The Australian Centre for the Moving Images is far more than just a venue to watch national and international films; it is a media hub for Australian digital culture and creativity, showcasing rising talents to now established artists in the fields of film, television and the moving image.
Throughout the year, ACMI play host to an eclectic range of events, including a calendar of award-winning exhibitions, festivals, creative workshops and educational programmes for all ages, providing unique ways for visitors to engage with the digital sphere.
Seniors’ Cinema, Kids’ Flicks, Melbourne Cinémathèque and Australian Perspectives are just some of the more regular events on offer. Special guest presentations are a regular feature, with a wide mix of contemporary modern films and archival classics often presented to audiences. Be sure to check out the new and totally free exhibition that charts the journey of the moving image and, in particular, Australia's relationship with screen culture, both as recepitent and inventor.
ACMI are also currently running a “$6 before 6” scheme until early February, giving visitors the chance to watch a variety of films for an awesome discount.
Easy to get to with the so-easy-use Melbourne transport system whether it be train, tram or even ferry along the Yarra.
